It’s been on our screens for over 20 years, but it seems the future is somewhat uncertain for Loose Women at the moment. Woman’s Own recently reported how one of the show’s biggest stars, Stacey Solomon, is rumoured to be stepping away from the hit ITV show. Losing such a big name would undoubtedly be a huge blow to Loose Women, with a source telling us, ‘The panellists know Stacey is popular and good for the programme, so they would be gutted to see her go.’ And with constant reports of rivalries among the show’s stars behind the scenes, what does the future hold for Loose Women?

STARS QUITTING

A source recently told us that Stacey, 34, who has been a part of the panel since 2016, is ready to step away from the programme to focus on her other shows, including the BBC’s Sort Your Life Out, and raising her young family. ‘She’s outgrown the show. It’s no longer right for Stacey,’ our insider revealed. ‘Loose Women takes up a lot of her time. If she were to leave, it would free her time up a little, especially if she has to be away for longer periods of time with her own shows.’

And Stacey wouldn’t be the first star to walk away from the show this year. Carol McGiffin, a much-loved panellist who had been part of Loose Women on and off since 2000, revealed in May that she’d left the show because ITV insisted she sign a contract with clauses that were ‘totally unjust and unworkable’.

She later said of Loose Women, ‘When I look back at the old Loose Womens I used to do from 2000 all the way until I left in 2013, they’re completely different. There is so much offence. People take so much offence at so much and they never used to.’ She added of ITV, ‘They come back and say we support free speech but I can’t see it, I can’t really see it – from where I’m sitting, anyway.’

Penny Lancaster also quit the programme this year, with a source revealing, ‘Penny enjoyed doing the show, but it requires a lengthy commitment from regular panel members and this is something Penny cannot do.’
