Help, I’m stuck in a rut

Q I’m overweight, unfit and I’m unhappy about it. My husband and I are also in a bad place and often talk about splitting up, but when it comes down to it, we know it’s too late to start again. At 62, a lot of my life has been wasted because I waited too long to make changes. I feel so low because I don’t seem able to do anything about my life. I want to make changes, but how?

AIt’s hard to make changes when everything seems huge and overwhelming. The first thing to do is see your GP and find out what’s making feel so low. Talking about it will help you to start unravelling your thoughts and find a way to move forward. A few sessions with a counsellor may also help you see that changing things doesn’t mean doing something drastic, but taking small steps that will take you closer to what you want.

I CAUGHT SOMETHING ON A DATE

Q For the past year I’ve been using dating apps. At 57, I’m amazed by the response I’ve had, and although many of the dates are about sex, I haven’t minded – until I caught something. Now I feel embarrassed and ashamed, and although I’ve sorted it out, it’s left me feeling dirty.
