The stars share their tips to help you achieve your new year fitness goals

Due to her busy schedule, keeping fit is no mean feat for Jennifer. The Hollywood actor, 54, has to be creative and utilise every spare moment to maintain her toned figure. ‘I take eight-pound weights with me whenever I’m staying in a hotel,’ she said. ‘It’s always good to do arm exercises when you’re watching television or talking on the phone. I also love to stretch before I go to bed, and usually throw in a couple of sit-ups.’

RUTH LANGSFORD

Since going through the menopause, Loose Women’s Ruth has been open about her struggles with weight. But now the presenter, 63, uses exercise as a way to prioritise her health, rather than as a means to lose extra pounds. Ruth confessed, ‘I aim for 10,000 steps a day, but it’s a constant battle. It’s not about being skinny, it’s about keeping moving.’

LOUISE REDKNAPP

Like us, singer Louise struggles to muster up the motivation to go to the gym. So she enlists the help of her girlfriends. The former Eternal star explained, ‘Training for me is very social. I’ll work out three times a week, whether that’s with a trainer in my garden, with friends, doing a HIIT session, or a Pilates class.’ Louise, 49, added, ‘I love reformer Pilates, too. It’s a great way to exercise, tone and lengthen your body.’

The comedian and Loose Women panellist never regrets slotting a 15-minute workout into her busy schedule despite how tough it is at the time, admitting that it can be a ‘battle’.
