Why doesn’t he want sex?

Q I’ve been married for 25 years and our sex life is nonexistent. My husband is 56, I’m 49 and we haven’t had sex for a year. I know it’s my fault as I get tired quickly, and work and kids take up all my time, so I rarely want it. But he always used to show interest. Now though, he’s stopped asking. What’s wrong?

ALack of energy, busy long days, performance worries and health problems are all reasons why sex can disappear from a relationship. That said, only so many times can someone be turned down without changing their behaviour. So it’s likely he’s stopped trying because he thinks you’re not interested. Talk to him, tell him how you’ve been feeling and listen to what he says. Then try to find a compromise that works for both of you.

MOCKED BECAUSE OF MY AGE

Q I’m 55 and my boss is in his 40s. Ever since he started, he’s been saying I am older than the others here. In a meeting, he even said I wouldn’t get a promotion I asked about due to my ‘advancing years’. It made everyone laugh, but I felt humiliated. What can I do?

Age discrimination in the workplace is prohibited in the UK under the Equality Act 2010, which protects against discrimination based on age, among other characteristics. Your employer cannot say these things, so please raise a grievance through HR or directly with your employer.
