The Loose Women are known – and loved – for their strong opinions and feisty debates. But if Denise Welch and Sue Cleaver’s recent on-air clash is anything to go by, this particular fall-out potentially runs deeper than the usual light-hearted disagreements.
Fans have accused the pair, who have known each other for over two decades, of ‘not liking each other’ after noticing an icy atmosphere between the two ladies since actor Sue joined the panel. So is there tension bubbling behind the scenes?
FIERY FALL-OUT
Denise and Sue both refuse to mince their words, so it’s hardly surprising that it didn’t take long for the pair to come to blows on-screen. It was only Coronation Street star Sue’s third appearance as a panellist when she and Denise clashed. After anchor Christine Lampard told Sue that she ‘fits in so well’, Denise then said, ‘Well you and I [Sue] we have known each other 25 years haven’t we?’ To which Sue sarcastically replied, ‘Yes a long time,’ – purposely putting emphasis on the word ‘long’. She then added, ‘I am here to stay whether you like it or not’. The pair clashed again over their opposing views of the Royal Family during a discussion about Omid Scobie’s new book, Endgame. Denise has made it clear she’s team Harry and Meghan, saying of author Omid, ‘We certainly know which camp he falls in. And it is the same camp that I fall in, I have always been a very outspoken supporter of Harry and Meghan.’ But Sue appeared to make a dig at Denise when she quipped, ‘I find it interesting you talk about camps, which camp you’re in, and it’s like, I don’t think we need to be a camp. We will find things that fit our narrative. So isn’t it more important that we don’t choose to be in a camp?’
Denise then sarcastically replied, ‘I like being in a camp, Sue’. To which Sue fired
