Any hope of a reunion between King Charles and his youngest son was threatened when Prince Harry released his tell-all memoir. Originally due for a 2022 release, the book landed on shelves in January 2023, after being delayed following the death of Harry’s grandmother, the Queen. Many had hoped that Harry would use the extra months to dial back its contents. But King Charles, Queen Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales were all criticised in the book, fracturing family relations further. Then there were the stories that would arguably have been better left untold – the Duke of Sussex’s drug use, and who can forget the tale of his frostbitten penis?
CORONATION CONTENTION
The coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla is a day that will go down in history, but the date itself already held importance for some members of the Royal Family. Not only was 6 May 2023 the day of the coronation, it also marked Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor’s fourth birthday, causing yet another point of contention between Harry and his father. While the prince made a fleeting visit to London so he could attend both his father’s and his son’s celebration, his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, decided to stay stateside – and her absence was noted.
HEADING FOR HOLLYWOOD?
They moved to the US to escape the spotlight of the UK and live a quieter life, yet 2023 saw Meghan sign a deal with star-studded agency WME to help with her Hollywood reinvention and to make her a ‘power player’ in the industry. In a bid to build a ‘broader wellness’ brand, like Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop, the mum-of-two is believed to have set up a new Instagram account. It is said to have amassed 125,000 followers, although the account has no posts; she shut down her lifestyle blog The Tig after getting engaged to Prince Harry in 2017. December saw Meg appear in an advert for a coffee company, so will 2024 see the revival of Meghan the showbiz star?
