The Loose Women star opens up about her relationship challenges
This time last year, Coleen Nolan was getting back together with logistics worker Michael Jones, and things were looking positive. But fast-forward 12 months and it seems things could already be going downhill.
Talking about relationships, Coleen, 58, said, ‘All relationships are madly exciting at first, but all go through dull periods and challenges.’ Perhaps tellingly, she added, ‘It doesn’t necessarily mean the relationship is wrong, but it does require some action.’ So is she suggesting things with Michael have already become stale?

Coleen’s comments come after she revealed that before splitting with Michael in 2022, she couldn’t make up her mind about him. Speaking about her children, Shane, Jake and Ciara, she said, ‘The first year I was with Michael, they weren’t sure because one minute I was all about him and the next I was saying I finished it, so they were confused.’ She added, ‘They were super-protective of me so didn’t want me to go back on the dating scene and jump [into a relationship], because they’ve seen me go through things before.’
And it seems Coleen is even reminiscing about her marriage to Ray Fensome, which ended in 2018. Talking about how he struggled to express his feelings, Coleen said, ‘Ray found it really difficult [to say ‘I love you’]. I think it was part shyness, but, also, he didn’t grow up in a house where people said “I love you” all the time.
At first it bothered me, then it didn’t because he showed me in so many other ways that he did love me. Surely that’s more important than saying “I love you” all the time but not treating you so well?’
