Harry and Meghan at the Invictus Games

Last year Prince Harry appeared on our screens in his Netflix series Heart of Invictus ahead of Invictus Games Düsseldorf 2023. However, the five-part series didn’t reach audiences in the way he had perhaps hoped, failing to make the top 10 streaming chart in the US or UK.

But now it seems the Duke of Sussex is ready to give the world of TV another shot and this time he has his eye on a national broadcaster in Canada, where the games will be held in 2025.

VANCOUVER VISIT

Harry has hired TV executive Scott Moore, who has close ties with Canada’s public broadcaster CBC, as the new CEO of the Invictus Games. And earlier this month Harry and Meghan flew out to Vancouver for the games’ launch. So is he hoping the trip will help secure a TV deal?

Scott has overseen coverage of several Olympic and Paralympic Games, the FIFA World Cup and the Commonwealth Games, so it’s hardly surprising that Harry was keen to get him on board.

An insider said, ‘Harry’s latest move with the hiring of Scott Moore shows that he is one step closer to launching the games with a big TV deal. We have seen lately how Amazon, Netflix and now Disney have secured the rights to big sporting events on TV. They know there is money and also subscriptions up for grabs with the right sports.’

They added, ‘Now that the Invictus Games has expanded to hosting a winter event too, it’s beginning to shadow the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games and can become a major television event with the likes of Scott behind it.’ And Harry and Meghan have the ‘star power to drive the games… It’s Harry’s sweet spot and something he is clearly passionate about.’
