For the bunny

1Use the templates to cut all the pieces from felt. On one piece of the bunny body, sew the inner ear sections in place using a row of fly stitches and French knots.

2 Place the two body pieces together. Right sides facing out. Starting at the base, sew the bunny together using a small whipstitch. When you reach between the ears, insert the hanging thread (folded in half and tied with a knot), placing the knot between the two body pieces. Secure with a couple of extra stitches then continue sewing.

3 At 3cm before you reach the starting point, stop stitching and stuff the bunny body with stuffing. Sew the gap closed. Stitch a small pom-pom in place for a tail.

4 For the flower, sew a small running stitch along the straight edge of the felt. Pull the ends of the thread and knot securely so the felt gathers up to form a flower shape. Add a sequin and bead to the centre of the flower, then sew in place between the ears, with a few leaves on either side.

How to embroider

1Use a short length of embroidery thread (around 30cm) to avoid tangles. To make your stitches more delicate, separate off two strands from your thread and stitch with these. Use one strand of thread and a smaller needle when sewing the beads and sequins in place.

2 To secure a sequin, first bring your needle and thread through the felt, then thread on a sequin and a bead. Take your needle and thread over the bead, then back through the sequin hole and felt. Pull tight. The bead will act as an anchor to secure the sequin in place.

Fly stitch

Sew a loose stitch from 1 to 2, and insert the needle at 3. Pull the thread taut, then make a small stitch over it to anchor the stitch in a V-shape at 4.

Scallop stitch

Sew a loose stitch from 1 to 2, and bring the needle up at 3. Reinsert needle at 4, trapping the loose thread into a scallop. Bring the needle out next to 2, ready for the next stitch.

French knot

Bring the thread up through the fabric, hold it with thumb and first finger of your left hand and turn the needle around it
