RISE

I used to set my alarm for 4.45am to work out, but that’s absolutely not been happening now I’m pregnant. In the first trimester, [my husband] Rio would be up early with the kids while I was snoozing. Now, I read my mantra cards, journal, have my green juice and get ahead of the day.

LENGTHEN

The reformer Pilates sessions I do twice-weekly feel like a semi-meditative time out. The slow, deliberate movements proved a great way to rebuild my core after having my son, Cree, and now it’s the perfect low-to-no impact pregnancy workout. I still do strength sessions, but I’ve dialled down their number and intensity.

FUEL

I grew up as an only child, so the full-on nature of a six-person household can be overwhelming. And the amount of food we go through? It’s ridiculous. We’re all big meat eaters, too, so one of my goals this year is to eat less of it. I use Meatless Farm mince in exactly the same way as I would use regular mince in a bolognese and it’s a hit with the whole family. That’s a go-to dinner I prep after lunch.

GRIEVE

Discovering other people’s stories online has helped me in the months since I experienced a miscarriage. So did letting myself stop and mourn this devastating loss. I just sat and cried in bed for a week. There wasn’t any one thing that Rio or the kids said to me that helped – I don’t think words really could. But they showed their care and compassion by giving me time and space – and bringing me up my favourite snacks.
