Chamonix du mont blanc 10k

For Harriet Wright, this 10K trail race high up in the mountains of France is an experience she will never forget

CHAMONIX

MY BEST RACE

In my best race, I didn’t actually race at all… but I did share the experience with friends and soak up the gorgeous views of Chamonix Du Mont Blanc.

Growing up in the Peak District, I’m no stranger to trails, but this 10K route was something different. The mountainous setting was breathtaking but also meant for extremely challenging terrain.

There’s something about facing a challenge and conquering it that I find therapeutic. It’s empowering and fills me with confidence, and is a form of therapy everyone should experience.

Unfortunately, trail running is often seen as inaccessible or intimidating, and can put women off having a go. Coach Dora Atim organised this trip to change that and I was lucky enough to be one of the 100 people she took to Chamonix with the mission to diversify the trails.

That’s the real reason behind me picking this as my best race; I was so proud to be part of such an ethnically diverse group and it was wonderful to see 99 other runners grow and have the experience of a lifetime.
