World of Cruising Magazine
1 July 2018
A whopping two million Brits enjoyed holidays at sea last year - and with ever more people discovering the joys of cruising, a new ship seems to be launched every week. There are some real gems to discover amid the glitz and glamour of all those champagne christenings, and you can read all about them in this month's magazine. Brand new Seabourn Ovation (page 40) is the epitome of cruising luxury, with designer décor and sophisticated touches worthy of a six-star hotel. This stunning debutante deserves all her applause, but other ships have been for a makeover (as we ladies sometimes do) with equally impressive results. Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas (page 48) now packs in more family fun than ever, including a virtual reality bungee trampoline (quite incredible - I've tried it) and glow-in-the-dark laser tag. Meanwhile the prize for best launch party must go to Marella Explorer (page 16), which was sent off in spectacular style by Craig David as Ibiza rocked and fireworks lit up the Mediterranean sky. With even more ships cruising to ever more beautiful destinations, where will you choose? Well, no country offers more variety than the good old US of A, and you'll find our top ten Stateside destinations on page 28. If you prefer to explore at your own pace, why not combine your next cruise with an escorted tour? We've done all the hard work for you - and you'll find our in-depth review halfway though the magazine. You'll also find our annual guide to river cruising in a 48-page supplement that comes free with this issue. Wherever your travels take you, all of us at World of Cruising wish you bon voyage and a wonderful summer. Enjoy!
