AS TOLD TO REBECCA DENNE

“I’ve helped members lose over 5,000 stone”

That’s what makes my job the best in the world. I’m currently working with a lovely guy called Barry – a real gentleman. His wife sadly died of thyroid cancer five years ago and he started to overindulge. He joined WW last Christmas and hasn’t missed a single virtual Workshop since. Helping Barry on his journey makes me really emotional and very proud. I get a lump in my throat whenever I see him. He’s completely turned his life around and WW has been a huge part of that. As a Coach, you’re there for all the highs and the lows. It’s an extremely special relationship that we build with members, which is why I love being a Coach so much.
Everybody supports each other, from those attending the Workshops to the people who work at Head Office. I may have reached goal years ago, but I’m still a wife, a mother, a grandma. We’re all on the same transformation journey and are like a little wellness gang, all sharing a common goal. Here’s to my next 28 years of WW!’

Dianne Hopwood, 64, a WW Coach who lives in Bognor Regis, says:

‘It sounds like a cliché, but WW really is like a family. I joined in 1992 after my sister and I both had babies. She’d left a copy of the then WeightWatchers Magazine out and open on a member’s success story. To me, my sister was already the success story; there she was in her slim jeans, while I sat beside her weighing almost 15st.

It took me a few years to achieve it, but I eventually lost over 5st. Then my Coach, Julie, asked me if I wanted to become a Coach myself. I couldn’t believe it. It took me a while to come around to the idea as it was such a big responsibility, but then I realised the value I could bring to the WW community and other members who were just like me. I soon built up a really good rapport with everyone, encouraging them to reach their goals.

Over the years, I’ve helped members lose a combined total of more than 5,000st. Still, it’s really down to the individuals themselves and their dedication.
