XStitch Magazine
1 December 2017

Are you ready for some Beats inspired cross stitch - it's issue 2 of XStitch! With original designs from some of your favourite cross stitch heroes, all of whom are responding to the theme of BEATS, there’s guaranteed to be something you’ll love to stitch! The theme of Beats isn’t just about music y’know. Beats surround us and define our world. If a butterfly (like these ones designed by The Hawthorn Tree) flaps its wings on one side of the world, it rains instead of shines on the other, or so they say! We welcome Mathysphere to the XStitch family and her sweet Beats on the Bus design is a great example of why we love her aesthetic! Despite being a cross stitch magazine, we are woke to the joys of needlepoint and most of our designs can translate between the two formats with ease. In this issue we’ve got three needlepoint designers sharing their ideas with us – Jenny Henry‘s Boombox is as rad as it is retro! We continue to give you good things to read as well as good things to stitch and among the articles in this issue, we’ve got an interview with Chicago based artist Emma McKee whose cross stitches adorn the clothes of the coolest hip hop artists around! Spike Dennis has another Thoughtspike and Jacquelyn Royal considers the work of Allan Ginsberg. We’ve got our advice column from Mary at FY Needlework, product reviews from Grace at Beyond Measure and even a book review from Lord Libidan!
