Jill Archbold, a well-known face from BBC Look North, who owns The Sandy Seahorse homeware shop in Whitby, shares her wedding in Robin Hood’s Bay with us. She married Chris, who co-owns Hadley’s Fish & Chips with his mum

Jill and Chris were blessed with a lovely spring day for their wedding in Robin Hood ’s Bay, May 2022.

Says Jill: ‘Sunny days spent in our garden during the first Covid lockdown convinced us to get married at home.

‘We are incredibly lucky to have the view we do of the Yorkshire coast, and it was so special to see the vintage-style marquee rise up at the bottom of the garden.

‘We were thrilled to find The Cove for our legal ceremony; it’s such an unexpected find at the end of a narrow, cobbled street. ‘The amphitheatre-style seating made the ceremony feel intimate (and gave every guest a great view). The weather at the coast can change so quickly but we were blessed with May sunshine all day; visitors were flocking to the beach mid-morning as we took photographs, and people waved a
