DOG DAYS

Tails were wagging and the sun was shining for Yorkshire Life’s inaugural Waggy Walk in the grounds of Harewood Estate in April. Meet some of the pooch pack who enjoyed the day with us

More than 70 readers came from near and far, driving from places such as Scarborough and Yarm to be part of the poochy pack. Held in conjunction with Harewood Food & Drink Project, the day’s fun began at the exclusive event space, The Hovels, which provided a smart backdrop to the start of our adventure.

Scrumptious breakfast sandwiches were served alongside teas and coffees as puppy pals were made. Dougie’s were on hand providing bags of their Wagyu Beef Cold Pressed dog food for all of our four-legged attendees, while Leeds Dogs Trust provided a fantastic raffle with an array of prizes up for grabs, including a play day at Pool Dog Park, Harewood Gin, Cold Bath Brewing Co beers, and a voucher for Muddy Boots Café.

The Yorkshire Dog Photographer, Kathryn Widdowson, joined us to capture candid shots of all the canines as they embarked on the three-mile walk.

Heading up through the Deer Park, both human and hound bounded along, meeting others and chatting about all things Yorkshire. Rory Gilbert remarked on the day: ‘Amber and I had the best time – everyone was saying how much fun the day was and how nice it is to have a group of dog owners come together to have a good time.’

Making a pit-stop at Muddy Boots Café in Harewood village, the team set up an area outside for hungry hounds to have their fill of doggy sausages and puppucinos, while humans were able to fuel up on flapjacks.
