Just like many of us enjoy updating our wardrobes season to season, it can feel good to refresh our homes with the latest décor trends. But you don’t need to give your interiors a complete overhaul for a mood boost – simply pulling out a few small ideas or trying out one new look in a room can have a positive impact. For 2024, there are plenty of trends to choose from and adapt to fit your home, including bouclé fabrics, organic shapes, and vibrant reds. Dopamine décor

Named after a chemical released in the brain that makes you feel good, dopamine décor is the term used for interior looks that trigger happiness and positivity. This can include using bold, vibrant colours, whimsical patterns, or playful elements to create a scheme that’s fun and reflects your personality. Interior designers such as Natasha Smith and Jonathan Adler are great advocates of this trend, but you don’t have to pay a designer price-tag to get the look. Try colour-blocking your walls using your favourite hues – tester pots are a great way to do this on a budget. Don’t be afraid to mix and match furniture in clashing brights, or pep up your existing seating with bold, colourful cushions and throws instead.

Curves and arches

Arched shapes and curvilinear designs are all the rage for 2024. Curved furniture brings a sense of fluidity and softness to a space, but don’t stop at the furniture – this trend extends to architectural elements, such as arched doorways, too. If you’re watching the pennies, try painting a simple arch shape on your walls to serve as a focal point, drawing the eye and adding a touch of drama to the space. Start by marking two vertical lines on your wall, in pencil, at your desired width apart. To create the arc at the top, tie a length of string to the end of the pencil, then use a drawing pin to pin the other end of the string into the wall at the centre-top of your two vertical lines.
