New research from image recognition app Google Lens has found that there’s a huge rise in antiquing by cash-strapped Gen Zs with millions of pounds’ worth of hidden treasure in homes and charity shops across the UK. The app has teamed up with antiques expert and Made in Chelsea star Mark-Francis Vandelli to help you find valuable gems in your local second-hand and charity shops, jumble sales and car boots.

Download Google Lens then take a photo to get detailed information of an item such as its history and value. Mark-Francis says: ‘Photograph everything you’re interested in from multiple angles so you can compare similar works for their quality, condition and craftsmanship. Use Google Lens to discover the artist, period or provenance of any antique.’
