Spangle really has sparkle

My fluffy boy Spangle, a Gypsy Cob, is pictured at the British Horseback Archery Nationals last July. Despite acting like a two-year-old, he turns 16 this year and we love going on adventures together, including hacking, Western camps and archery training and competitions —he always has a squeal as he starts to run. I bought him when he was six months old, so he’s been with me for most of his life and I love his trick repertoire that he will run through if I don’t give him a treat. He’s definitely the family dog in his head.

Dream duo

My PRE Quintero is a very cuddly horse. I imported him unseen during lockdown and luckily for me he turned out to be my dream horse. I really do hope that I’m his dream owner.

A true life saver

I’ve had Norbert for just over a year. A while ago I lost the use of a thigh muscle, which left me quite badly disabled and unable to walk without crutches. At one point my doctors didn’t think that I would walk again, let alone ride. Then Norbert came into my life purely by fate. He’s amazing and he takes such good care of me. We like to hack and school and we have just started online para dressage tests. Norbert quite literally saved my life and I owe him everything.

Animal magnetism

My Badger is the best little cuddle bug, as well as a naughty pest. He’s very cheeky, but loves a kiss. He’s a 10-year-old Miniature Shetland who I’ve owned for eight years and his main job is being a field companion to my ex-racehorse.

Life in the not so fast lane

Forty is modelling his new headcollar that I made him from scratch. He’s a 13-year-old Anglo Arab gelding who steeplechased in France and enjoyed a few victories before being retired. He now enjoys hacking in the French countryside and popping a few jumps from time to time.

Long distance legends

LTF Wings Of Amir C (aka Amir, in the orange bridle), is an 11-year-old Arab gelding. We do endurance, although he’s quite new to it. He’s successfully completed up to 30 miles so far. GB Aliaanah (Ali) is a 21-year-old Arab mare. She’s retired from competition, but was an advanced endurance horse, competing 50 miles in her day.
