Shalamar is always on song

In this picture me and a friend have just got back home from a fabulous hack out in the gorgeous North Wales countryside. My tri-coloured mare, Shalamar, is now 23 years young and I’m on the late side of my 50s. I can’t imagine life without Shalamar and I trust her 100% on our outings. Dressage dynamos

My horse, Indie, is 14 and we have been a partnership for nearly five years. We are currently trying to navigate the dressage world one test at a time.

My mare, Maggie, is 16 years old and 14.2hh. She is my first pony and I’m in my 30s, so I’m working my way through all my Pony Club dreams that I couldn’t fulfil as a horse mad teenager who worked at stables but couldn’t have my own horse. Maggie came from a riding school where she wasn’t enjoying the life any more. She has lost weight and gained muscle and is a changed pony. She loves her work as well as all the one-to-one attention.

Effie drives as a single, but now has a new partner in crime —Hackamore Blueprint (aka Lewis) —with whom she forms a pair.

Smartie is a sweetie

My horse, Smartie, is a 20-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding who I have owned for five years. When I was young I had a career as a point-to-point jockey and I also evented to a reasonable level, but that came to an end when I became a wheelchair user at the age of 20 after a car accident. I gave up riding for a while, but the love of horses never goes, and I bough
