Stacey Solomon is back helping people sort their lives out with a good old-fashioned spring clean

She’s known for her own meticulous organisation and clever storage ideas, so it’s no wonder that Loose Women panellist Stacey Solomon (34) is presenting a fourth series of Sort Your Life Out.

This latest season sees Stacey work on the homes of six families who are all struggling through clutter and poor storage solutions, leaving them totally overwhelmed. With the help of experts Dilly Carter, Iwan Carrington and Rob Bent, they strive to end the process with a calm living space packed with clever and easy-to-use organisation. Yours caught up with Stacey to find out more…

The show is very wholesome and uplifting, is that why it’s so popular?

I actually think viewers have always wanted nice wholesome TV. I feel that sometimes telly has guessed what people want and the shock value became a trend, but I genuinely believe most people want to sit and watch people succeed – to get a happy ending.

You’re so kind to the people who come on…

I think it’s really easy to judge, to be mean about people and call them lazy, but that’s just not the case. I have rooms in my house that look like Miss Havisham. Sometimes I can’t keep up with it. Cobwebs just appear overnight, it’s raining dust everywhere.

The gang returns for a new series

What we can do a lot of the time is say, I need to reset, but if you’ve had trauma, for example, it can cause you to not know how to face it. Sometimes you just need a bit of help.

Do your smart storage solutions stand the test of time?

We go back to houses sometimes and it looks exactly the same and it’s immaculate – or sometimes better!

They find even more storage solutions and better organising hacks and they’ve carried it on.

And then there are some houses where it’s come back a little bit, but that’s them. I don’t think we can expect everyone to live to our standard forever, they have to find a happy medium. I think it’s the psychological side that helps more than anything. They see when they get home how they could be living.

We’ll always say to people, it doesn’t have to be tidy all the time, that’s not real life.

It’s not necessarily how clean they’ve kept their houses, it’s how their lifestyle changed and everything around it, like being able to date again or getting healthy.

They say tidy house, tidy mind. Once you’ve got that sorted, then you can focus on other things.
