How George, Charlotte and Louis have rallied around the Princess as she recovers at home

William and the children will be a great support

It’s been a challenging few months for the royals, after the Palace revealed that King Charles, 75, was undergoing treatment for cancer just weeks after the Princess of Wales had “planned abdominal surgery”. With Catherine resting and on the mend after being discharged on January 29, and King Charles also having his treatment, Prince William, 41, and children George, Charlotte and Louis are rallying round them.

Kate, 42, spent nearly two weeks at The London Clinic, a private hospital in Marylebone, following her surgery. Her stay was in the same hospital where King Charles had corrective surgery for an enlarged prostate on January 26, when his cancer was discovered. The type of cancer has not yet been revealed, but the Palace has said he is “feeling hopeful” over his treatment..

Following her surgery, Kate was welcomed back to Adelaide Cottage, Windsor, by her family. At the beginning of February, they headed to Sandringham, the royal estate in Norfolk where King Charles is staying for some quality time.

After being away from her beloved children for so long, Kate’s return to her family has been a joyful and emotional event, sources reveal. While William visited her in hospital daily, their children didn’t to avoid disrupting their usual routine. “This was the longest Kate has been apart from the kids, and she was no doubt thrilled to return to her home comforts and have her children around,” our royal insider tells us.

George, ten, Charlotte, eight, and Louis, five, would have given their mum a very warm welcome. “The kids are likely to have made Kate a big banner, along with cards. They may well have presented her with flowers they picked from the garden and baked her a special cake.”

Kate is not expected to resume her royal duties until April. As she takes a step back, we’re reliably told her children will be key in keeping her spirits up. “The kids will be very mindful of her needs, keeping her company, giving her cuddles and being gentle,” our insider reveals.

“They will talk to her about what happened at school and may relax by watching TV and films together. George is learning to play the electric guitar and piano and his sister is starting to play the piano, so they might practise for Kate.” They add, “George, Charlotte and Louis also enjoy cooking for her – she recently revealed that they like making their favourite ‘cheesy pasta.’ The family will also try and get outside as much as possible with walks in the garden.”

There may also be discussions and preparations for Louis’ sixth birthday in April and Charlotte’s ninth b
