With the return of the wonderful BBC series Beyond Paradise, we catch up with actor Kris Marshall

From now on Friday nights will only mean one thing, it’s time to settle down on the sofa and take a trip to the idyllic fictional Cornish village of Shipton Abbott. In this brand new series DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall), ably assisted by DS Esther Williams (Zahra Ahmadi), are back solving a multitude of cases including a murder on a steam train, the mystery of a local fishing legend who goes missing at sea, a schoolteacher who vanishes on a foggy beach and arson predicted by a medium.

At home Humphrey and Martha’s (Sally Bretton) journey to create a family also continues as they explore the possibility of fostering. We chatted to actor Kris Marshall to find out more….

What do you think makes Beyond Paradise so popular?

I think it has an amazing foundation as it is part of the Death in Paradise universe, a franchise with a very strong following that is loved by audiences all over the world.

I’m extremely lucky that Humphrey was one of the show’s most popular characters, but I also hope we’ve brought on board our own fans. I hope people who haven’t watched Death in Paradise enjoy tuning in because Beyond Paradise is a unique and original show. It shares the same

DNA, but it has its own identity. I think it really encompasses the charm, the music and wildness of the south west.

How are Humphrey and Martha getting on after their brief split?
