’80s trendsetter

Matching her ’80s hair to her pet dog Bambi’s bouffant, a 13-year-old Victoria was already showing signs of being a fashionista and trendsetter at home in Harlow. Bring back the crocodile hairclips, we say.

The audition

Having studied musical theatre, a then unknown Victoria Adams steered away from pop to perform Mein Herr from Cabaret at her Spice Girls audition in 1994. “It obviously got their attention because they saw something in me; God knows what it was,” she later revealed.

Girl Power

Releasing their debut single Wannabe in July 1996, Spice Girls Victoria, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm and Geri Halliwell were unleashed upon the world, duly rocketing straight to number one. And an LBD-wearing icon named Posh Spice was born.

True love

They were already celebs in their own right – but after getting engaged in January 1996, Posh and David Beckham were well on their way to world domination. Assembling the media to announce their betrothal in January, Vic told the paps, “I am the happiest girl in the world today.”

Baby Brooklyn

In March 1999, a then 24-year- old Posh gave birth to her and David’s first child, Brooklyn Joseph Beckham. Debuting the tiny tot, the new parents proved that nothing goes better with an adorable baby than matching sunnies and pleather.

Solo Spice

Stepping away from the Spice Girls in 2000, Victoria shirked her Posh persona after teaming up with Dane Bowers and garage duo True Steppers. Their number two single Out Of Your Mind was one of the biggest tracks of the year.

London 2012

She may have sworn off singing, but Vic resurrected Posh Spice – alongside her fellow bandmates – for an unforgettable performance at the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony. This was her last time performing with the Spice Girls… so far.
