HI-TECH TREATMENTS

EXOSOME THERAPY What are exosomes and what do they do? Well, simply put, they enhance the communication between your cells which, in turn, releases growth factors. These stimulate hair follicles to accelerate hair growth. Combining exosomes with micro needling and applied to the scalp, they switch on cell rejuvenation to trigger repair and renewal, tackling hair loss, while boosting healthy hair growth and density. Depending on hair health, a course of up to five treatments may be needed, 1-2 weeks apart. From £580 per treatment.

PRP (PLATELET-RICH PLASMA THERAPY)

Blood is taken from the arm and then spun in a centrifuge that separates the platelets from the red blood cells. The platelets are then injected into the scalp, which releases growth factors stimulating hair follicles to regenerate. This helps increase blood flow to the scalp and can reawaken dormant hairs to stop active hair loss. Usually 2-3 treatments work well. From £550 per treatment.

You may need three treatments, but results can last up to three years. From £200 a session.

● Consume more phytoestrogen-rich foods as these may help to increase levels of oestrogen since they have a ‘mimicking ’ effect in the body. These include flaxseeds, sesame seeds and fermented soy such as miso and tempeh.

● Eat a diet rich in protein and iron, increase your intake of omega-3 essential fatty acids, and don’t forget biotin. A deficiency has been linked to greying and thinning.

● Reduced circulation to the scalp can also affect hair volume, so eat more vitamin C and bioflavonoids in fruit and vegetables, which support healthy blood vessels.

It’s estimated up to six million women in Britain are affected by thinning hair, more than half over the age of 50. The menopause can wreak havoc due to fluctuating hormones, particularly a drop in oestrogen. Hair health is now one of the
