The Harley Street Skin Clinic duo, Lesley Reynolds & her daughter Sophie share their approaches to achieving a radiant complexion

LESLEY SAYS…

What comprises a good skincare routine? There’s so much advice, it’s overwhelming! Let’s face it, most of us want to keep it simple. But does that even exist? Yes! The cornerstone of any effective skincare routine lies in consistency. We advocate a balanced approach – gone are the days of overwhelming bathroom shelves, instead, embrace a concise yet comprehensive line-up of essentials.

CLEANSE – This rids skin of impurities, excess oil and environmental pollutants, paving the way for optimal product absorption. For mature skin, FaceWise Melting Cleansing Balm, £39.95, is exceptional, or try Bondi Sands Melt Me Cleansing Balm, £11.99.

TONE – Truth be told, I don’t use or advise a toner. My mother would cleanse with Vaseline so would use rose water as a toner to remove residue. These days, wash-off cleansers mean it’s not necessary. If you must, use simple rose water or witch-hazel from your pharmacy.

TREATMENT SERUM – For mornings, vitamin Cis a favourite of mine, because its antioxidant content neutralises the free radicals that cause many signs of ageing, and it’s suitable for all skin types. I love BeautyLab Vitamin CSerum, £25. Twice a week at night, use a retinol-based serum to encourage your skin cells to turn over and thus boost radiance.

MOISTURISE – Everybody knows the importance of moisturising day and night and one with an in-built SPF is the way to go for daytime. Agreat day-to-day option is Aveeno Calm + Restore Oat Gel Moisturiser, £8.99.

SPF – This comes after skincare, but before makeup. Always choose a higher factor, broad-spectrum formula. It’s a non-negotiable step, shielding your skin from the harmful effects of UV rays and premature ageing. Apply it liberally to all exposed areas of the skin, rain or shine. Embrace sunscreens with lightweight textures and advanced formulations that work just as hard as everything else. A favourite is L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Clinical SPF50 + Vitamin CDaily Invisible Fluid, £19.99.

SOPHIE SAYS…

In the realm of skincare, where beauty meets science, I advocate the importance of tailored routines to nurture youthful skin. As a working mum of two, aged five and six, my skincare routine is short! My approach prioritises cleansing and protecting in the morning, then treating and bal
