One is a King of Football and Fashion – the other is the actual King. And one thing was clear when David Beckham and King Charles recently got together and posed for a pic – they both think each other is the bee’s knees.

The former England captain, 48, had a private meeting with Charles at his Highgrove home last month to discuss his new role as an ambassador for the King’s Foundation and afterwards they were pictured beaming on the steps of the country retreat.

During the visit to Charles’ Gloucestershire hideaway, the pair bonded over their shared hobby – beekeeping.

Beckham said: ‘It was inspiring to hear from the King about the work of His Majesty’s foundation during my recent visit to Highgrove Gardens – and compare beekeeping tips!’

He added that he was excited about his role at the Foundation, saying ‘I’ve always been keen to help young people to expand their horizons and I’m particularly looking forward to supporting the foundation’s education programmes and its efforts to ensure young people have greater access to nature.’

On his visit to Highgrove, Becks was also shown trying out his carpentry skills with foundation students taking part in woodworking courses at the Snowdon School of Furniture.
