Cold War hots up in Korea In Korea, the Cold War heats up for the first time. After World War II, the fronts between East and West have been drawn clearly. The iron curtain separates the western world from the communist east. Korea is also divided into two. When war breaks out in the divided country, the South immediately receives support from the United States, while the Soviet Union and China back the communist North Korea.
