Birdkeeping skills are saving wild rare species all over the world, and this week we bring a heartening update on the glorious yellow-eared parrot. Not only have nest-box schemes saved it from extinction, but it’s actually colonising new areas! Nearer home we meet a maestro of the Fife canary in Belgium. Two of our budgie experts report on their (incredibly contrasting) years so far. We meet a dazzling insectivore from the Med, an elegant waterfowl from South America and an irresistible finch from Down Under.
