Extraterrestrial True-life

I’ve had a few encounters that seem pretty alien to the rest of us...

Helena Worth, 42, from Ceredigion

Wiping the sleep out of my eyes, I turned the lock in the back door and opened it.

It was 6am on 11 December 2018, freezing and dark.

But my two dogs Penny and Blossom needed to go out to the garden – it was the same routine every morning.

Standing in the garden, I had a great view looking over the Aeron Valley.

Only that particular morning, something unusual caught my eye.

About half a mile away from me, I could see what looked like a house on fire.

Oh, my goodness, I thought. What should I do? Shall I call the fire brigade? Or shall I drive over there, see what it is and then call the fire brigade?

Only as I debated what to do, the fire seemed to move.

Looking more closely, I noticed that the flames were ball shaped.

The ball of fire was moving west over the houses in the valley, before suddenly going east, quite quickly, on a straight-line trajectory.

About the size of a house, the object was dripping what looked like a lava-like substance, spherical, with a white top. Mesmerised, I watched it float over the valley.

I’ve always loved space and the night sky

Suddenly, the top flashed bright red and the object quickly flew out of view, leaving me alone with the night sky.

Penny and Blossom continued sniffing around my feet – they hadn’t even looked up from the garden.

But I was stunned. What on earth was that? It wasn’t an aircraft – an aircraft isn’t house sized and a ball of floating plasma. I knew it wasn’t

anything like lightning – we had a perfectly clear sky, and it was a very dark morning, too.

That was really unusual, I thought in complete shock. That has to be a UFO.

Rushing inside, I ran straight to tell my husband, Adam, 52, exactly what I had just seen.

‘Oh, wow that’s really cool,’ he said. ‘I wonder what that was.’

I’m not sure he really believed it back then.

And when I shared the news with our two children Esme, now 18, and Eddie, now 14, it was clear they didn’t share my enthusiasm. They were quite stunned but probably too young at the time to really understand what I had seen. I was convinced I’d seen a UFO. I’d always been interested in space, and I had been stargazing since I was a little girl.

They come in peace!

And over the years, I’d noticed a few strange occurrences in the night sky.

When I was 10, I’d gone stargazing with my friend.

Led staring up at the stars, we saw a few satellites.

‘Wow another satellite,’ she said giddily, as we led on the grass.
