The Two Sessions – China’s National People’s Congress and the Political Advisory Body – had their full session in March. The focus is on economic growth, with a modest target of 5% for the year (p.20-24), despite of the geopolitical tensions. Japan’s decision to release nuclear-contaminated water into the sea is still causing alarm among the East Asian neighbours including China (p.14-16). Manufacturers are struggling to hire enough workers as young people move to the gig economy (p.37-41).
