CINTURATO IS BACK IN BLACK

Pirelli has further expanded its range of Cinturato CN36 classic tyres to include the popular 195/70 VR14, with more sizes to follow. The reintroduction of the tyre, which was original fitment on many sports and luxury European cars of the 1970s and ’80s, as well as an OE equivalent to others, is a boon to owners of cars such as the Rover SD1 V8, Datsun 260Z, Alfa Romeo Montreal and Morgan Plus 8, plus a host of BMWs and Mercedes-Benz models of the period. Finally offering a blue-chip option after a number of barren years, the CN36s are available via Longstone Tyres, priced at £246 apiece.

Keeping double time

Timing chains eventually stretch, which is why higher-spec engines often use Duplex (twin) chains. There is now an adjustable vernier kit from Q Parts that not only converts your BMC A- or B-series engine to Duplex, but also allows precise adjustment of the timing gear. This provides greater tuning precision, including adjusting out any stretch that occurs over time. It is made from high-strength steel and is lighter than the standard kit, for increased responsiveness. Itʼs £129.95 for either engine, or the adjustable vernier is sold separately for £99.95.

Help in a tight spot

Carpet underlay, swimming floats and acoustic sound-deadening are just a few of the materials weʼve seen lining tight garages in an attempt to shield classics from dents and scrapes, but the Wavepark is actually designed for the purpose. There are two versions, with slightly different surfaces: one sits at the end of the garage to shield your bumper, while the other protects your doors at the sides. The front and side panels are sold in pairs, the former 60x60x3.5cm, the latter 30x40x2.5cm. Theyʼre available in three colours, with two different types of fixings, starting at €31.97 for a set of black side panels with adhesive fixings.

Making a meal of it

At £65 for a four-piece set, youʼre probably not going to equip your entire kitchen drawer with these spanner-shaped pieces of cutlery, but it might make the perfect gift for whoever in your life is partial to a workshop lunch. Made from stainless steel, each piece is a working spanner, running from 10-13mm on the wrench end and to a total length of 23cm in the case of the largest item, the knife. The knife and fork can be bought individually, while a set of four teaspoons is also available.
