Why kate is refusing to play royal peacemaker

With the coronation just weeks away and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s RSVP still pending, an insider reveals Kate Middleton isn’t happy about having to bite her lip

For most of the UK,the national grief over the late Queen’s passing in September, and the joy of her Jubilee in June, still feel like a very recent memory, but in a matter of weeks, the bunting will be back up as we prepare to celebrate the coronation of King Charles on 6 May.

However, while official plans for the prestigious ceremony are well under way, behind-the-scenes, the Royal Family have been forced into managing more personal affairs as they disagree over how to deal with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – should they choose to attend.

William and Kate with their three children

Earlier this month, a spokesperson for Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, confirmed that the couple, who stepped down as senior royals in 2020 to start their new life in California, had received an invitation.

During their Netflix documentary in December, Meghan referred to Kate as stand-offish, and in Harry’s bombshell memoir, Spare, he wrote how she “howled” at his infamous Nazi fancy dress costume and was left visibly repulsed when Meghan borrowed her lip balm at an event.

TOUGH

Now the insider adds, “Kate is finding it very hard to be in this position and is really going to have to bite her lip when it comes to exchanging pleasantries with them.

“Kate has always felt extremely grateful and privileged to be accepted into the Royal family – but having to listen to countless accusations about her behaviour from Meghan’s side and remain silent has been really tough. She doesn’t exactly feel like she should be expected to be charitable to the troublemaking couple. Kate would much rather greet them with a steely silence she thinks they deserve.”
