61 YEAR AGE GAP
Miracle Pogue’s husband may have received his pension, but that hasn’t got in the way of their sexual tension…
As her mum looked out of the window, Miracle’s stomach was in knots. She watched anxiously as her mum took in the grey hair and lined face of the elderly man shuffling towards their front door.
His name was Charles, he was 80 years old, and he was there to take Miracle, then 21, on a date.
But while they may have seemed like an odd pairing, Miracle and Charles hit it off and now, four years on, they are happily married and are even trying for a baby.
THE FIRST MOVE
Miracle says, “I couldn’t imagine myself with anyone else but Charles. Our relationship may look weird to some, but love comes in all sorts of guises.”
Their love story began in 2019, while Miracle was working in a laundrette.
She says, “I was standing behind the till when the door swung open and Charles waltzed in, and my stomach flipped. With his dapper outfit and sparkling eyes, there was something about him.”
Over the next few months, Charles became a regular customer, and it didn’t take long for him to make the first move. Miracle recalls, “He slid a piece of paper and a pen across the counter towards me and confidently said, ‘Write your number down, please’’, and although he looked old enough to be my grandad, I didn’t hesitate to do so – we were friends by that point and I loved hearing his stories about the war days whenever he waited for the dryer to finish.”
Although Miracle was always attracted to older men, she had never been in an age-gap relationship before as she was too worried about what people would say.
ELECTRICITY
On the day of their date, Miracle’s mum, Tamika, 45, was on the edge of her seat. Miracle explains, “I mentioned that he was an older man but that was all, so she was peeking through the window to get a good look at Charles and when he appeared, she gasped and said, ‘He’s got to be three times your age!’ I hadn’t asked him yet, but I assumed he was in his 60s. I quickly rushed out the door so Mum couldn’t ask more questions, then Charles drove us over to a bar in town.
“Despite an obvious age gap, the conversation flowed. I learned so much about Charles. He had been married once before and had worked as a real estate agent. The electricity crackled between us. He had so many interesting tales. He told me it felt as if he’d known me forever. Soon, we were seeing each other most days.”
