INTERVIEW

After a turbulent few months in Peggy’s love life, she exclusively tells Closer that while she’s focusing on her career for now, she’ll never give up on finding Mr Right

Peggy Lawrence has been a regular fixture in the headlines recently, amid her messy and public split from Married At First Sight husband, Georges Berthonneau. The reality star announced they had parted ways on Instagram last month, sparking a tit-for-tat battle, including claims that Georges was unfaithful in December –something he has strenuously denied.

And in an exclusive chat with Closer, Peggy reveals she’s feeling stronger every day in the wake of her heartbreak and is looking optimistically to the future.

GUTTED

Opening up about her hurt, Peggy says, “I’m truly gutted that Georges ended things without revealing the real reason why. I feel like I’ve had a couple of months now to get over it. I actually did think that Georges fell in love with me at one point, but his actions have proven otherwise. I felt settled with him, so it’s a shame it didn’t work out.

“I believe in karma and what goes around comes around –good things come to good people. For now, I’m just going to ride it out, focus on myself and think that everything happens for a reason.”

Former technology risk partner Peggy, 33, and Georges, 30, first met on their wedding day for the E4 show last series, with fans bearing witness to their roller-coaster journey on screen. And while Peggy is close pals with TOWIE stars Chloe Brockett and Junaid Ahmed, she says there aren’t any solid plans for her to join the show.

“Georges is trying to make people think I did MAFS for TV exposure, which I didn’t,” Peggy insists.

“I’m not saying I wouldn’t do it, but it’s just a rumour. I am friends with a lot of the cast, they’re like my family. I’ve known them for years.”

Meanwhile, getting back onto the dating scene is not a priority for Peggy, as she admits she finds it even harder to trust people since her relationship broke down.

She says, “I don’t want to be with anyone unless they add something to my life. I don’t want to be with someone who doesn’t appreciate me. I’m ready for a family now, so I can’t waste time with people who don’t know what they want.”

But she tells Closer that she still believes in love and will keep searching when she’s over her break-up. Discussing her dream man, Peggy smiles, “My
