This lovely wedding sign is easy to whip up with the aid of a ScanNCut and Corinne Bradd has upcycled a picture frame for thrifty brownie points! What’s more, she has crafted an assortment of beautiful crepe flowers for a decorative touch – why not create even more for buttonholes and bouquets?

Wedding Sign

1 Remove the glass from your frame and clean with distilled vinegar. Use warm soapy water to clean the frame before replacing the glass and adding a sheet of plain coloured card behind it. Check the front of the frame for stray dust and hair trapped between the card and glass before replacing the backing board and securing in place.

2 Measure the area of the frame where you wish your message to appear and use the Brother Canvas Workspace to type out and arrange your text in your desired font. Enlarge or reduce it to fit the area you need and then send the file to your ScanNCut machine.

3 Select the ‘half-cut’ option and cut the text from white gloss self-adhesive vinyl. Weed out the background from the backing sheet until only the words are left. Take a piece of transfer sheet and rub it firmly over the lettering. Flip the vinyl sheet over and carefully peel the backing from the lettering to leave the words fixed to the transfer sheet.

4 Flip over the transfer sheet and position above the glass. When you are happy with the placement, drop the sheet from the centre out in both directions. Rub down the lettering firmly with your finger and carefully peel away the transfer sheet.

Tulips

1 Take a 20cm length of wire and thread a round bead onto the centre of it. Twist the wire below the bead to hold it at the top and make a flower stem. Cut a piece of crepe 3cm across the grain x 6cm and stretch gently in the centre. Apply glue to the edges of the crepe and place over the bead, carefully wrapping and gluing the edges of the paper to the stem.

2 Cut six pieces of matching crepe, 2cm across the grain x 8cm long. Gather the paper in the centre and twist. Apply glue to one side of the twist and fold the other half of the paper over, stretching the crepe below the twist to create a concave petal. Repeat to make six petals.
