Summer Houses

star letter

Hello, I have been stitching the Snowy Houses letters from issue no. 402. I use them to make birthday cards, and as people have birthdays all through the year, I have adapted some of them to look more summery. Thank you for such great charts.

We’re always so pleased when readers take the plunge and adapt designs to be more suited to their needs. To change the snowy houses to be suitable for other seasons is an ingenious idea, Gillian!

I loved making this bookmark (issue 406). It was a simple, quick stitch and gave me a nice break from my current WIP!

Rules the Roost

I have always wanted a cockerel ornament in my kitchen but have never found one I liked. Then, from issue 393, March 2023, you gave us a clock project, Down on the Farm. I loved the cockerel so much, but not as part of a clock. I've attached the finished piece, hope you like it. I need another picture now of a comical hen, any ideas! Thank you so much for a brilliant magazine, I wouldn't be without it.

READER TIP

Untangle your threads"

If you find that your stranded cotton is tangling frequently while you stitch, try separating the strands and then re-twisting them in the opposite direction before threading your needle. This will help to prevent tangling and make stitching much easier. Plus, using shorter lengths of thread can also help to reduce tangling.

Purrfect Gift

Cat Amongst The Thistles (issue 405) was a quick and fun stitch. The colours are great in the flesh. I am seriously considering stitching it again as a gift for a friend.
