High-spec hoops ● The Orome Valar wheels have an aero-optimised, 30mm-deep rim with a wide-tyre-ready 22mm internal width. They’re built onto hubs that run super-smooth ceramic bearings
Print job ● The saddle uses 3D-printed padding plus carbon rails and a carbon base to keep comfort high and weight low
Fast frame ● The 870g Vanyar frame is UCI certified and being raced at UCI Continental level by the 7-Eleven Cliqq team

Look at the lightweight road offerings of most of the established brands, equipped with the brilliant Ultegra Di2, tubeless-ready carbon wheels, carbon one-piece bar and 3D-printed, carbon-railed saddle and you’ll be looking at a price tag close to £10,000. With upstart online-only brand Elves, however, the price is a mere £3,999; and the Taiwan-based company’s R&D team is headed up by David Chiang who has more than 20 years’ experience in bike design, working for the likes of Specialized and Giant.

01 In the frame

Not only do you get an impressive specification for the money, you’re also getting a UCI-certified frameset that weighs in at just 870g (claimed) with a fork that adds just 430g more. The frame is built from a blend of T800 and ultra-stiff and strong T1000 carbon, and the frame and fork are both fully integrated, as is the one-piece carbon bar and stem.

02 Custom looks

The Vanyar is the main bike for the UCI Continental team 7-Eleven Cliqq, and you can get the frameset in team colours, one of seven standard colourways or even choose free custom paint options through Elves’ online bike-builder function.
