STAR EMAIL

Subject: The food of love From: Roz Okatan

Wow! As soon as I saw the cover of your December issue I couldn’t wait to cook it. I’m a step-mum to three teenage boys, and while this relationship can bring great joy, it’s not always easy to find ways to show the boys how much they mean to me. One way is through food and preparing something they love, then eating it together is a bonding experience.

I’m writing this just before Christmas, and naturally the boys will spend Christmas Day with their mum and enjoy a feast of turkey and all the trimmings, but when they come to us on Boxing Day they often request “Roz’s special gammon” (a delicious. recipe from my scrapbook).

This year it looks like we’ll be eating something that looks even more impressive (fingers crossed, although it probably won’t look exactly like Pollyanna Coupland’s stunning ‘glam ham’). Thanks as always for the inspiration.

Subject: Waste not... From: Ellen Parker

You asked us to tell you our favourite delicious. recipes... I discovered your magazine only last winter, so my favourite is relatively recent. I’m from New Jersey in the US, married into a British family. I absolutely love the potato peel crisps from Don’t Bin It! in the February 2023 issue. I make them in my toaster oven every time I peel a potato. Such a tasty, simple addition to dinner.

Subject: The page I turn to first From: Kate Allman

The best thing about delicious. in two words: Debora Robertson. Her wit and humour never fail to bring a monthly chuckle, but her November column created belly laughs. She consistently manages to put a light, comedic spin on relevant points of view, and December’s lens on Christmas excess, including her reflection on her past-self’s indulgence in this, was genius. Her column is the first page I flip to, and I frequently re-read it. Thank you, Debora, keep the words coming.
