Our January 2022 cover star is the new reigning queen of Drag Race UK, Krystal Versace, who promises to usher in a new era of drag. At just 20 years old, she is the youngest winner the global franchise has ever crowned. She quite literally is generation Drag Race, having been inspired by the series growing up (she was just seven years old when the first season premiered). It’s a testament to the Drag Race phenomenon that Krystal’s experience with the artform was nurtured from such a young age – and we’re certain her victory will inspire millions more to embrace who they are and follow their ambitions. It’s no mistake that as queer culture continues to infiltrate the mainstream, LGBTQ+ identities and stories become more prominent across society, and progress is made, that those who oppose us will start to shout louder. But we are winning this battle. It might not always seem like it and we should never take what we have achieved so far for granted, but as a community and with our allies we will continue to push for greater equality. We have faced some of the toughest years in modern history, but as a community who uplifts every single person under the LGBTQ+ umbrella, we can pave the way for brighter days ahead.
