Reflecting on this new issue of GAY TIMES Magazine made us realise how exciting the direction queer culture is headed in. In Golda Rosheuvel we have a queer woman playing an iconic monarch in Bridgerton spin-off series Queen Charlotte – presenting a regency-era London that has a diverse cast of characters without making their difference the main dramatic beat of contention. There’s rising stars Meet Me @ The Altar; a pop-punk band made up of queer women of colour occupying and thriving in a space that has traditionally been taken up by straight white men. We have Ted Lasso actor Billy Harris talking about his groundbreaking new storyline of playing an openly gay premiership footballer in the show, giving audiences a better understanding of what the human experience of that looks like. Then there’s Eurovision icon Loreen in her bid to become the first female act to win the competition twice. Her song of unity is a rallying cry for greater love and respect that transcends borders. And we have our cover star Arlo Parks who has emerged 2 as the wordsmith of her generation, speaking of her experiences in love and life with introspection and intent.
