This Pride season was a much-needed reminder that wider society does support the LGBTQ+ community. We witnessed first- hand the millions of people who took to the streets for both London and NYC Pride, while we walked alongside thousands in the rain to march with London Trans+ Pride. GAY TIMES won Editorial Team of the Year at The Drum Online Media Awards, and Lewis Corner our Editorial Director was honoured to be named Editor of the Year at the prestigious PPA Awards 2023. Not only were we proud of these wins because they were judged by our peers in the industry, but also because our entry was based on our commitment to rising above the so-called “culture wars” and focusing primarily on spotlighting the brilliance and heart of the LGBTQ+ community. We’ve said before that we can’t ignore the bad actors who continue to politicise our existence, but we never let that distract us from positively representing our rich and diverse community through the content we produce. That’s particularly true of this latest issue of GAY TIMES Magazine, where our cover story looks at Fashion at the Intersection. Sheerah, Munya and Lucky are three creatives and models who 2 have created space for themselves in an industry that has too often alienated those who don’t conform to a certain image of beauty. This cover story is a celebration of their success and their being, exploring how their different intersections have only enhanced their voices and purpose in a powerful way. And that’s the true definition of Pride: standing in your power as who you are, defiant of those trying to shame you, and rising above the system and structures that try to bring you down.
