THE UNSTOPPABLE Oppenheimer juggernaut may have cleaned up this awards season, but there is someone else who has been quietly triumphing on the red carpet: Danielle Goldberg.

Not heard of her? Well, you’ve probably clocked her work. Goldberg is the New York-based stylist who has crafted this season’s coolest and most confident looks. Her clients include Kaia Gerber and Olivia Rodrigo (she’s the woman who’s got the pop princess in a series of excellent archival designs), but it’s her work with Ayo Edebiri and Greta Lee, on the circuit for their roles in The Bear and Past Lives respectively, which has made this one of the best dressed awards seasons in a long time. I mean – damn! – would you look at Edebiri in her slouchy white suit from The Row, worn with wire-framed Oliver Peoples sunglasses (an homage to another Goldberg, Whoopi, apparently)? Or Lee in her Swarovski crystal-embellished Loewe menswear, at the same event, the Critics Choice Awards. Even if you didn’t know them, you’d be asking, ‘Who’s that cool girl over there?’

The Goldberg look is neither extravagant theatricality nor the play-it-safe princess. Rather, she crafted ’fits that are classic with a dash of quirk, possessing the kind of details or proportions that make the wearer the most interesting person in the room. These clothes portray wit and intelligence, there’s substance to the style which looks organic, personal. Lee is a Loewe ambassador and, as is always the case with the Jonathan Anderson-helmed brand, it makes sense.
