Urges support for homeless on Red Nose Day

The Prince of Wales has highlighted the needs of homeless people in a video made for Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day. He spent time with homelessness organisation Groundswell for a short film broadcast during the BBC’s fundraiser on Friday night.

Viewers saw the Prince meet two homeless men, Nawshin and Miles, as they recorded a podcast for Groundswell’s Listen Up! project. And William, 40, told them what inspired him to work on the issue.

“My mother introduced me to the cause of homelessness from quite a young age, and I’m really glad she did,” he said. “I think she would be disappointed that we are still no further on in terms of tackling homelessness and preventing it than when she was interested and involved in it.”

Sells stake in budget mobile provider for $270m

Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds has sold his stake in a budget mobile-phone provider to T-Mobile in a deal estimated to have earnt him $270m.

Mint Mobile, which was partly owned by the Deadpool actor, 46, was acquired last week in a deal worth an estimated $1.35bn.

“I never dreamt I’d own a wireless company and I certainly never dreamt I’d sell it to T-Mobile,” tweeted Ryan, who will continue his creative role with the firm. “Life is strange and I’m incredibly proud and grateful.”

The Canadian star, who has four children with actress wife Blake Lively, 35, is also a co-owner of UK football team Wrexham AFC, having bought a £2m stake in the club with fellow actor Rob McElhenney in 2020.

Cake recipe is published in charity cookbook

The Duchess of Sussex has contributed a recipe for a lemon olive-oil cake to a charity’s new cookbook.

Meghan, 41, baked the cake as part of a Women’s History Month fundraising project in March 2021. A post shared on her Archewell website last week revealed that she has now given the details of the dish to the World Central Kitchen Cookbook: Feeding Humanity, Feeding Hope. The post described the tome as a “captivating collection of stories and recipes from renowned chefs, local cooks and friends of the global non-profit”.

The World Central Kitchen is run by Meghan and husband Prince Harry’s close friend, Spanish chef José Andrés, who works to provide hot meals to people in need around the world.
