ENJOYS A SHOWSTOPPER OF A PARTY WITH THE CORONATION PARADE TROOPS

Surrounded by cakes and sweet treats, TV presenter Mel Giedroyc took part in the first Coronation Big Lunch last week.

The former The Great British Bake Off host visited London’s Wellington Barracks to join officers, guardsmen and musicians from the Coldstream and Scots Guards of the Household Division Foot Guards, and horses and riders from the Household Cavalry as they took a break from ceremonial rehearsals ahead of the coronation on 6 May.

“It’s wonderful to bring these busy, hard-working troops and their four-legged friends together for this special Coronation Big Lunch here at Wellington Barracks,” Mel said.

“Our Big Lunch shows how easy it is to invite your neighbours over and enjoy a few nibbles together,” added the actress and comedian. “It’s so important to take time out from our busy lives to meet and share friendship with the people you live alongside.

“When the serious coronation ceremonies are over, everyone UK wide is invited to be part of the celebration with a Coronation Big Lunch, whether that’s joining in with a garden picnic, having a cuppa on your doorstep, or a party in your street.”
