AS GUEST LIST DETAILS EMERGE CORONATION COUNTDOWN THE PALACE CONFIRMS THAT THE DUKE OF SUSSEX WILL ATTEND

REPORT: EMILY NASH

T he Duke of Sussex will attend the coronation on 6 May, Buckingham Palace confirmed last week. Prince Harry will be at Westminster Abbey to see his father crowned King Charles III alongside his stepmother Queen Camilla.

But his wife the Duchess of Sussex and their children will not attend.

A statement from the Palace said: “Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the coronation service at Westminster Abbey on 6 May. The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”

HELLO! understands that Meghan’s decision to stay in the US was influenced by plans for Archie’s birthday, as he will turn four on 6 May.

The news of Harry’s attendance ends months of speculation about whether he and Meghan would travel to the UK for the historic occasion, amid troubled relations between the couple and the royal family.

Harry, who criticised his father and brother, among other relatives, in his memoir Spare, published in January, will be appearing alongside his family for the first time since his grandmother the Queen’s funeral in September.

His visit is expected to be brief and he may only stay for the ceremony itself.

In an interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby to promote his book earlier this year, Harry was asked if he would attend the event. He replied: “There’s a lot that can happen between now and then. But the door is always open.

“The ball is in their court. There’s a lot to be discussed and I really hope that they’re willing to sit down and talk about it.” Buckingham Palace declined to comment further.

ROYALTY AND COMMUNITY

News of the Duke’s trip to the UK came as other prominent overseas figures confirmed their attendance on the historic day.

They include King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia
