THREE WEEKS BEFORE THE CORONATION THE ROYAL FAMILY AT EASTER HAPPY AND UNITED AS THEY CELEBRATE AT ST GEORGE’S CHAPEL

C elebrating his first Easter as monarch and following the long-held tradition of his mother, the King led a roll call of royals stepping out at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.

Under April sunshine, His Majesty gathered his loved ones, led by his wife the Queen Consort, for Easter matins on a poignant, yet joyful day.

The couple, who were also marking their 18th wedding anniversary that day, were joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, who turns five this Sunday and was attending the Easter service with his family for the first time.

PAYING TRIBUTE

Co-ordinating with the King’s polka dot tie, the royal women looked stunning in striking shades of deep blue.

Her Majesty opted for a coatdress from Anna Valentine with a Philip Treacy hat, and paid a touching tribute to her mother-in-law the Queen by wearing her diamond love knot brooch.

Kate went for a similar hue from Catherine Walker with a matching Mayfair Pillbox hat by Lock & Co. Hatters.

In a departure from her usual look, the Princess wore dark nail polish, something she has not previously been seen wearing in public.

Charlotte also followed the blue theme, in a navy floral frill dress by Rachel Riley, blue tights and a navy coat, her hair half up in two neat plaits, while George wore a smart navy suit and bright blue tie and Louis was in a navy blazer and tie over pale blue shorts.

Impeccably behaved, the young royals brought up the rear of the party walking through the Castle’s Lower Ward.

Louis held onto his mother’s hand and glanced over to the waiting media, while the Princess smiled and said: “Hello.”

In contrast, Charlotte was all smiles as she held hands with her father Prince William, with George walking nearby.

ALL TOGETHER

Adding to the royal procession were the Princess Royal, the Duke of York and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh with their 15-year-old son the Earl of Wessex.

The King’s cousin Lady Sarah Chatto and her husband Daniel walked with Princess Anne’s husband Vice-Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, while Princess Eugenie – heavily pregnant with her second child – and her husband Jack Brooksbank followed behind.
