A WEDDING ‘MADE IN CHELSEA’ JAMIE LAING AND SOPHIE HABBOO ARE THE PICTURE OF HAPPINESS AS THEY TIE THE KNOT

Guests throw confetti as Jamie and Sophie leave Chelsea Registry Office after their wedding last week. The couple have been together since April 2019

W hen Made in Chelsea stars Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo were deciding on their wedding venue, there could only have been one choice.

Fittingly, the blushing bride and groom chose Chelsea Registry Office inside the old Chelsea Town Hall for their low-key ceremony last week, with the happy couple smiling with delight as they were showered with confetti when they descended the steps of the building. Kissing after they had been declared husband and wife, the newlyweds couldn’t have looked happier as they posed for waiting photographers.

Beautiful bride Sophie, 29, wore a white corseted off-the-shoulder Vivienne Westwood minidress and a bow veil, which she accessorised with white pearl-encrusted Jimmy Choo heels and sunglasses. She also carried a simple bouquet of spring flowers and a Sophia Webster Wifey For Lifey Cleo clutch bag. Her new husband, 34, looked cool in a navy suit and sunglasses.

After greeting their friends and family – including Made in Chelsea co-star Melissa Tattam and entrepreneur Georgie Le Roux – as they left the building hand in hand, they got into waiting cars to head for a celebratory lunch at nearby restaurant Stanley’s. Jamie, whose great-great-grandfather Sir Alexander Grant invented the digestive biscuit and whose family once ran the McVitie’s biscuit empire, shared the lunch menu on an Instagram story, which showed starters of British burrata with a sour cherry harissa and beetroot, or smokehouse trout with blood orange and radish. Main courses were roasted cod with capers and cauliflower or onglet steak with bone marrow bordelaise, while dessert was wedding cake.

NEARLYWEDS TO NEWLYWEDS

Before their ceremony on Friday last week, the couple had been chronicling their preparations for the big day, with Jamie, who competed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2020, showing his followers his gym workout. “Life begins today,” he wrote before adding: “I get to marry my best mate this week and I cannot wait.”
