OLLY MURS REVEALS HIS DREAM WEDDING BAND BEFORE TYING THE KNOT
It will be one of the biggest showbiz weddings of the summer when pop sensation Olly Murs marries his long-term girlfriend, bodybuilder Amelia Tank (together right), and now the cheeky chap has opened up about how his heart skipped a beat when he proposed during a romantic summer break in Cornwall last year (above).
“I was doing these little proposal practices,” he told Heart Radio’s Pandora Christie, saying he felt “cool” and confident before hiking to a clifftop to present Amelia, 31, with an emerald-cut diamond – taking their relationship to new heights after they met in a gym in 2019.
“It wasn’t because I was nervous about the proposal itself – I was more nervous about getting up the cliff because last year I had knee problems. Once I got there and knew what was happening, I just knew how it would go.”
Ever the Troublemaker, the former The X Factor contestant, 38, joked that this milestone moment wasn’t his most intimidating. “If I compare it with doing my driving test when I was 22… nowhere near as nerve-racking. That was the most nervous thing I’ve ever done. Anything after that has been easy,” he said, reflecting on his “lovely” year as an engaged man.
Of planning the wedding, Olly said: “It is a very stressful time, but it’s fun. I don’t want to do this ever again. We’re working together to get it right. She hasn’t turned into bridezilla yet, so we’re all right. Everything’s fine.”
As he prepares for his nuptials later this year, Amelia may not be the only one he asks to dance with him on their special night, as he revealed that he’d love his fellow The Voice coach Sir Tom Jones to perform at the event.
“A lot of my family are like cockneys, all Londoners. They all love Delilah, It’s Not Unusual, She’s a Lady, all of Tom’s classics,” said the star (below with Sir Tom), who kicks off a series of live shows in the UK and Ireland later this month. With perfect timing, the tour is named Marry Me, after his seventh studio album – his fifth to hit No. 1 in the album charts.
“Tom’s just a legend,” said Olly, adding of their fellow mentors on the ITV programme: “Anne-Marie and Will.i.am, too – all three of them can put on a show. They’re so talented. That would be amazing, wouldn’t it? To have them all as a wedding line-up.”
