L ucy Mecklenburgh is the picture of a proud mum as she is joined by her adorable children to showcase her debut clothing collection. But, like any parent of toddlers, she is also a little alarmed when she sees the pristine white decor of her photoshoot location.
“The house is very white and I have a three-year-old, which is never a good mix,” says the entrepreneur and social media star with a laugh, as she takes time out to catch up with HELLO!.
Luckily, all goes well and three-year-old Roman and his little sister Lilah, 11 months, are on their best behaviour, looking positively angelic as they try on their mum’s new family range with clothing brand Very.
“Roman loves attention. He had 30 eyes on him, new toys to play with, loads of snacks – he was in his element,” says Lucy, 31, who has been engaged to actor Ryan Thomas, 38, since 2019. Their paths crossed two years earlier when they both appeared on Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls. The parents are now enjoying watching their son develop a sweet bond with his little sister.
“Because they are so close in age, they are inseparable from the moment they wake up,” Lucy says. “Roman’s first question when he opens his eyes is: ‘Where’s Lilah? I need to give her a cuddle and a kiss.’
“Lilah isn’t talking yet, but she giggles and looks around the room for him,” she adds.
The toddler years do have challenges, as she is quick to point out. “We call it the ‘threenager’ time,” Lucy says. “He has a little bit of attitude, but it’s also nice because you’re having proper conversations – he knows what he wants.”
MARKING MILESTONES
The family are also looking forward to celebrating Lilah’s first birthday at the end of May. “I can’t believe it. I feel like she’s still my newborn,” Lucy says. “I have an August birthday and always have garden parties, so the wish is that Lilah can have a little bar
